04 Jun Downtown San Jose Engagement | Felicia and Jon
pup in the city
Felicia and Jon spent the first few years of their relationship living in downtown San Jose. They had a lot of nostalgia about certain places they’d visit or walk by, so it seemed like a great option for their engagement shoot. Plus, they were able to bring the pup Charlie, who stole the show the first part of the shoot. We started out at Plaza de Cesar Chavez, where the roses perfectly matched their outfits (which are also their wedding colors). They frolicked with Charlie and got a lot of love from him. He was a total sweetheart….unless there are skateboarders around! They told me he has a particular loathing for skateboarders, but even so I wasn’t prepared for the fierceness with which he defended his humans from them. He became a ferocious beast and it was just hilarious.
We walked through Paseo de San Antonio, enjoying all the colors San Jose is showing off right now. We stopped by the flower shop and Jon got Felicia some flowers in their trademark color. They had already scouted the area and even pointed me to an amazing mural that had that same pop of color! These beautiful bright colors were showing up throughout the shoot.
We walked to the apartment where they used to live, and even took some photos at their favorite eatery, Dakao Sandwhiches. It was just around the corner where they used to live. They even took a photo with the owners, who saw them often when they lived there! Finally as the sun set we hit South First street for some shots with those lovely twilight street views. I had never done a downtown San Jose engagement shoot before, and I’m so glad I now have! I had fun seeing a familiar space in a new light. Also, I will definitely be going back to Dakao Sandwhiches because it smelled amazing and I didn’t get a chance to sample the treats.
I’m so excited to be photographing Felicia and Jon’s wedding in less than a month, but in the meanwhile, here are their engagement photos!
