11 May San Francisco City Hall Wedding | Natalie and James
Natalie is a fellow photographer and friend, and when she contacted me to photographer her and James’ San Francisco City Hall Wedding – their “legal-ing”, as she called it – I was just tickled. It’s such an honor to be picked to photograph fellow photographers (but also totally nerve-wracking)! Natalie and James wanted a day just for them, but of course you can’t be a photographer and not have your wedding captured. So I had the distinct pleasure of being photographer, friend, and even the witness :). Conveniently, I could just hand the camera to Natalie to capture that part. It was a fun, laid back and even funny event. Natalie looked lovely with her freshly pink hair and her pink polka dot dress, and James looked dapper in his suit. They made rings out of paper and had a hand-made bouquet. The legal bit came first at the clerk’s office, where I did my brief bit of signing the marriage certificate amidst photographing the happenings. Then we made our way up to the center staircase for the ceremony – Natalie even stopped to snap a photo for a group of tourists with someone’s cell phone :P. This was back in December – the big Christmas tree was up in City Hall, and there was a kid’s orchestra setting up to play holiday music. It was wonderfully festive. One of the best moments of the day was when, during the most important part of the ceremony (right before those “I dos”), the orchestra started a very dramatic version of “Dreidel Driedel”. Nothing like a not-quite-in-tune tuba solo in the middle of your wedding to make you laugh until you cry :D. Following the ceremony, we spent some time walking around the beautiful city hall building taking portraits. We ended with a few more at Crissy Field for those iconic Golden Gate Bridge shots. It was such a treat to get to photograph such a special day for these two awesome folks :). Congrats Natalie and James!
