05 Aug UC Berkeley Botanical Garden Wedding | Megan and Dean
I first met Megan and Dean when Megan officiated Jenny and Adam’s Kennolyn Hacienda Wedding last fall. I noticed even then how sweet they were with each other. It wasn’t until we started discussing their own wedding that I learned what an incredible love story they have! I am such a sucker for a good love story. As they told me, one week prior to meeting Dean, Megan was on a Buddhist pilgrimage in Japan (!!). There, she chanted to find a life partner with whom she could later return to the temple at the foot of Mt. Fuji. A week later, she found Dean online, and they met for a date. One year later they returned to that temple at Mt. Fuji together.
Since then, they proposed to each other multiple times, finally making a mutual decision to get married and start a family earlier this year. From my own experience in photographing them on their wedding day, I can say that they are incredibly warm and loving people, and seem to become even more so when they’re together. I can honestly say I spent most of the day smiling, reveling in the joy they have in each other and that their family and friends have for them. The whole celebration happened at the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden, with the ceremony – officiated by a good friend of theirs – in the super magical Redwood Grove across the street. In addition to the traditional exchange of vows and rings, they had a moment of “grounding”, in which the couple, barefoot, connected with the earth and each other. After the ceremony, the party commenced with dinner and dancing at the Julia Morgan Hall in the Botanical Garden (with tasty food provided by Wilma Lott Catering and musical stylings by ILuvMyDJ).
Megan and Dean, I wish for your joy to only grow bigger and brighter with each other and your growing family :). Thank you for inviting me to be a witness to the commitment you have made to each other.
