02 Nov Villa Ragusa Wedding | Matt and Maya
Matt and Maya met back in college, and from what I hear this day was a long time coming (I’m sure you guys aren’t sick of that comment yet :). The day finally arrived, and it was a gorgeous one. We started out with getting ready – the girls at Maya’s parents’ house, finishing up their hair and helping Maya into her (gorgeous and, let’s face it, fabulously large) dress and the guys in a nearby hotel trying really hard to figure out how to tie a bow tie (no easy feat). They had a grand, traditional Catholic Mass in Los Gatos, during which the church cat made an entrance for some comic relief. He really had a thing for Maya’s dress and kept coming back deliberately to walk on it! We followed the ceremony with just a few group family photos (not included here, but let’s just say I’m super glad I have that wide angle! Also, a little jealous of big families). Then the bridal party and the photo party (in this case, Eric, Mia and myself) headed over to Vasona Park in Los Gatos for some portraits. We had a great time doing silly things and taking sun-kissed portraits, and then all headed over to Campbell for the reception at the Villa Ragusa wedding venue. The place was decorated to the nines with amazing bright colors – warm lighting and oranges and purples. Matt and Maya made the centerpieces ( and Bouquets, Boutonnieres, Corsages, Favors, etc!) and they turned out great! There was a subtle dinosaur theme with some nods to both Maya’s Indian and Matt’s danish heritages. After the grand entrance there were some great toasts, and visiting with guests during dinner. But – the night was just beginning. After Maya and Matt’s first dance, and their dances with their parents, the wedding party had a surprise for them. They all came out in masks or T-Rex costumes (I love those things, and they went so well with the theme :D) and did a choreographed dance! Then the really party started – these guys were such great dancers! I love a good dance party and this did not disappoint.
Matt and Maya – Congratulations! Thanks so much for having me along on this wild ride. I’m so excited for you guys and the mutual silliness and love you have in your future :D.
