Heather and Chris got married on a gorgeous spring day in Danville. We started with some photos of their getting ready – I went with the ladies and my second shooter Hok photographed the gents. Even though the time went quickly, we managed some fun photos of the champagne opening and pillow fighting (I’m pretty sure this started as a joke but everyone seemed to have fun with it :)) as well as the classic moments of getting ready for the big event. Heather’s mom’s prayer was so sweet and made it all a little bit more real. And on the topic of moms; their ceremony at Community Presbyterian Church was officiated by Chris’s mom, who is a pastor there. It was such a unique situation, and she did a great job making the ceremony personal with stories of Chris and Heather’s relationship. They opted to forego a “first look” in order to have the authentic walking-down-the-aisle experience – while I love to do first looks, there’s something super special about the emotion of that moment and I loved getting to capture that. After the ceremony, we got some beautiful light for portraits, and then it was off to the party. The reception at Danville Community Center was so much lovelier than I imagined, with bistro lights and gorgeous centerpieces. Dinner was served (and delicious) and Heather and Chris and their family and friends danced the night away.
Congratulations Heather and Chris! Here’s to your new chapter :).
