My last wedding of the year was every bit as spectacular as one might hope. Not only because Nestldown is one of my favorite places to shoot – and it was looking especially lovely on that fall day – and not only because the beautiful decor made everything look and feel even more like a storybook, but primarily and most importantly because Vanessa and Chad are so clearly in love that it is a joy to photograph. Their falling in love last year was, it sounds like, nearly instantaneous, and it has carried them through to this very special day. Vanessa looked radiant wearing her grandmother’s wedding gown that fit perfectly, and Chad looked dapper and excited to see his bride. We did the customary portraits – second shooter Hok photographing the guys and I the girls. Then there was the ceremony in the dramatic cathedral grove, which was a perfect fit for their spiritual vows of commitment to each other. As a photographer, I was especially excited for the chance we had to photograph the couple in the autumnal persimmon orchard on the property, as well as among the redwood giants. For the reception, the barn was resplendent with florals and lights, and everything worked so beautifully together. The food was delicious, and the toasts made everyone laugh and cry. Finally after dinner, all formal events complete, Vanessa and Chad were able to dance and party with their family and friends and celebrate this happy happy occasion. Vanessa and Chad – congratulations! It was such a privilege to be there for your wedding day. May your love grow every day as you walk through your lives together :).
