Vasona Lake Park is a really popular destination for photographers, and as such it sometimes get a bad rap. We’re always looking for something new and cool and unknown. But honestly? I kind of love it. The light is gorgeous in the evening, and there are a huge variety of beautiful spots all within walking distance. I like to walk and chat and get to know my clients a bit during a shoot, so I always appreciate having some time to take it easy and meander through a park, stopping to shoot here and there as I get ideas. Also, I’m often biding my time, waiting for the perfect light to show itself. It’s normally a very brief window when everything is golden and lovely (especially in a valley) so you have to start shooting early, but nevertheless, I’m always waiting for those magic moments. Lauren and Jonathan and I had a great time walking around and enjoying the park. We joked and laughed and got to know each other a bit while exploring. I put them in thistles and trees and grass, and even in spite of some wardrobe malfunctions, they took it all in stride :). We had a great time, and I loved how easily they interacted with each other. I’m sure their wedding coming up in August will be, similarly, a blast.
